Over a 20-week period, The Innovation Garage® led a cross-functional team of Sourcing, Material Handling, and Production with Accelerate and Execute project management methodologies to:
- Optimize part delivery to the production area
- Only have tools needed for the upcoming production
- Analyze and improve assembly via production sequence and utilize subassembly stations
- Relocate stores to better support picking, counting, and delivery to production
- Create standard work project management playbooks for future activities.
Realized a 60% reduction in total man hours between materials, subassembly and operations by using 5S, SMED and better workflow utilization.
KPI Result: 60% reduction in total allocated hours per vehicle, from 500 hours to 200 hours per vehicle.
